SOLAR HOT WATER
Solar hot water is an extremely cost effective way
to reduce energy bills.
It is often more cost effective than solar electricity. So much so that it
needs no government subsidies to make it affordable.
Domestic hot water can account for 25% of the average home
energy cost. So it makes sense to seek ways to reduce its cost.
Note: We now install SunMaxx evacuated tube collector
systems. These are highly efficient because they employ the principal of a
vacuum being a perfect insulator. It is like putting your solar absorber inside
a thermos bottle. Plus they utilize a "heat pipe", a form of passive heat pump
for wicking the sun's heat up into a heat exchanger to be taken by antifreeze to
the water heater tank. For more info on these check out
Silicon Solar
To contact us about
having a system installed click here to send
us email It costs between $9,500 and $10,900 for a family of four. Partial
space heating options available. If you qualify, State and Federal tax credits
apply. This pricing was last updated 02/28/2010
Here is another simple Solar water heating system by Great Brook
Solar NRG LLC, The drain back system.:
Freeze protection is accomplished by simply allowing the water in the
collector to drain back into the solar heat storage tank. No expensive
antifreeze that may overheat in summer. If system reaches Max temp it simply
shuts down and drains. Simplicity means lower
cost. Lower cost means higher return on the investment or faster payback.
we can
install one for you for about $8500 to $10,000 (family of four) that will save
you about 60% of your hot water bills. Other size systems available.
