Now New York homes and businesses
can legally spin utility meters backwards with solar PV power.
This is called solar net metering.  Spinning your utility's meter backwards reduces your
electric bill in New York State and can  qualify you for a 25% of system cost New York State income tax credit. (New York State primary residences only up to maximum credit of $5,000). You can download the tax form here for more details: http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/2001/inc/it255_2006.pdf  In addition The Federal Income tax credit just got better. It is now 30% of the cost with no upper limit for systems going into operation after 1/1/2009 and before 12/31/2016. The previous $2000 cap was removed. Please note the IRS forms may not be published yet therefore your accountant may not be aware of the latest news.
